CAN I WORK FOR THE NEWSPAPER?
THERE ARE THREE DIFFERENT POSITIONS: WRITER, EDITOR, COORDINATOR.
NEWSPAPER WRITER
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Any number of students who earn a C or above in Reading, Writing, and Vocab/Grammar classes and is caught up with all homework.
2. You have access to a computer at home.
3. You have a Google drive account.
4. You are able work independently (this means writing and typing on your own without much help from Mrs. Barth).
JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Writes an article about one of the approved topics.
2. Submits topic request and receives approval from the coordinator.
3. Sends article electronically to editor by third Friday of the month.
MASTER COORDINATOR:
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Any ONE student who earns a B or above in Reading, Writing, and Vocab/Grammar classes and is caught up with all homework.
2. You have access to a computer at home.
3. You have a Google drive account.
4. You are able work independently (this means writing and typing on your own without much help from Mrs. Barth).
5. You are willing and able to spend at least an hour per week of your own time on this.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Ensure each writer has a different topic and all topics are covered.
2. Communicate regularly with the writers to make sure they are turning in articles by deadline (the third Friday of every month).
3. Works with editor the last week of the month to ensure deadline is met.
4. Coordinates dissemination of newspapers by last Friday of each month to ensure they are sent home in Tuesday folders.

TOPICS
You may write about any topic listed on this page. If you want to write a topic about something not on the list, write up your proposed article, and if it meets Mrs. Barth's approval, we will publish it!

1. Calendar of upcoming important school events. List all days off and special events in November and December.
2. Explanation of upcoming events, especially for new families (Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas Program)
3. Weather forecast (What is the long-term forecast this winter, any snow days?)
SECOND PAGE TOPICS: CLASSROOM NEWS
Spirit Servant Committee update. What chapels did we have in September and October? What kind of chapels will we have in November and December. What are going to be the special spirit days.
Updates from each classroom: Survey classrooms for extracurricular activities and something special they are doing as a class during school time.
Dear Editor (ask younger kids to write letters to the newspaper)
